The prices are no longer within reach for the people who NEED to buy second-hand. It used to be much more fair. There are bed sets, outdoor sets etc that are priced higher than the same brand when it is new. While I appreciate volunteers, so think there may be a retraining opportunity for whomever is pricing the items. These items were donated, and the resale prices of many items are incredibly high, essentially pricing out the very people they may be trying to help. $600 for broken patio furniture when Home Goods had a nicer set for $599? $10 for a chipped sheet of tile that is $11 brand new? It is getting wild out there. I love the mission of Habitat, but the vision is getting a bit blurred at this location.

Sorry you feel like that, while I understand you think everything is donated it's not. We actually buy some of our products. We look at the name brand of furniture and price is 1/3 or less of retail. We compare apples to apples, is it from Walmart or Ethan Allan. We don't sell chipped tile and if you saw that on the floor all you had to do was tell an employee and we would throw it out. We are run by 20 full time paid staff, pay big rent to be there, pay for 3 trucks and gas...ect....we have a few volunteers but not many. We pride ourselves on paying living wage to our staff so they can provide for their families. Our mission or vision is to make a lot of money in our store so we can build more homes for people in Manatee county, our store is not the "mission" it's the income. And while we price 1/3 or less of retail we have to cover our expenses and still provide a reasonable price to the consumer. We have traveled to all the thrift stores from St. Pete to Northport and we are the cheapest. We also have a make down system that others don't. Furniture will get a red, 25% off blue 50% off and if still around in 6 weeks a green sticker which is 75% off. We are the 7th volume store in the country out of 1000 and have tried harder than most to keep our prices down.

They have a large selection of used furniture with a surprising quantity of items in like new condition. If you are on the market for anything household items I would highly suggest checking out this store to support a great company and save yourself some money. Jason and Matt who were working the floor were both very helpful and friendly.

I have found so many treasures here. I always stop here prior to shopping on line and I usually find exactly what I'm looking for, especially parts and paint for home repair. They have a huge section of used and new.
