I was briefly a member, until I moved to a complex with its own gym - so I didn't need a separate gym membership. Before, during, and even after my membership here, I've always found ACAC to be great addition to the community. Everyone's always happy to help, and it really is a nice facility. Fantastic people all around. Special shout out to Andrew for his excellent customer service and professionalism on the phone and in person. Management, give him a raise - he's a credit to your organization.

Besides ACAC being a great gym, they have been an incredible community support. Our power is out, and many of us have been working from here most of the day. Everyone is so helpful and welcoming. I really don't know what we would do without this great team and the community they have built. Nice job, ACAC!

Clean facility, a variety of classes, and friendly staff.  I would not consider my self a gym buff at all, but I still feel comfortable going in.  Child care is excellent as well.

Wildly excellent gym. Not cheap but worth 3x what you pay per month. Great positivity in the air when you walk in, you can feel it, it's motivating....

This is quite possibly the most well equipped facility this side of the nation. However, having a fully setup facility should NOT take away your ability to provide Real Customer Service.

I had stopped in for day 2 of a 3 Day Pass.
The pass was not honored because, it had to be a 3 consecutive day pass. Sorry, but my work schedule didn't meet the required consecutive days. I only came to do a group fitness class.
The clerk at the front was adamant that I would need to sign up for a membership  first before attending the class that day. I kindly asked, can I at least do this class first(about to start in 5 minutes), then I'll gladly pay for a membership. She rudely responded with NO, you can't attend unless you are a member. The she said the only person who can approve that is the one in charge of memberships, Chuck. I asked well then can I please talk to him?

She paged Chuck and after about 5 minutes of waiting, he came out of his office I presume. Bear in mind that 12 minutes had already passed and the group fitness class already started. Top it off, it was a slow evening at the class so there was lots of space to squeeze in one more student.

Chuck introduced himself and asked if I was ready to sign up for a membership. I said "I'll gladly sign up, but can I attend this class first, then PAY for the membership right after?" He too also exclaimed NO, sign up for the membership. In the course of this, the time was already trickling away. I responded with, "by the time we get all that done, the class will be finished". That  still wasn't reason enough to get Mr. Chuck to let me attend the class. The conversation we had about this went on for about roughly 20 minutes so the class was already nearing the end. I again asked him to please just let me take the class and sign up for the membership right after, all that pleading to no avail. By this time I was just flat out insulted and humiliated 🤬🤬🤬🤬. I raised my white flag and surrendered. My request wasn't granted I guess because at ACAC - MONEY TALKS, everyone else is just a number.

Please bear in mind that I came in here optimistic about attending a class, and I had every intention of paying for a membership, a family membership too. However, if this is the type of facility that only sees MONEY and not the person, then I'm sure everything else is going to suck here. Go to another facility that will work with you because these two individuals that I dealt with made my experience anything but welcoming.  Such a shame too, because as I mentioned earlier, the facility is fully stocked and well laid out. I guess when you have everything, you lose sight of the important things, like Service and Care.

I am indeed certain that this is NOT how Mr. Phil Wendel intended his members to be treated. This is NOT the Virginia Way.

I recently joined ACAC (Albermarle Square) and while their classes are great there are several things to be aware of. One if you cancel before a year, you have to buy out your membership for $20 a month. This was not brought up in my membership meeting but instead, I was told I could cancel at any time and it was "not about the money" for them. Lies. After requesting my account be closed even with a buy out I was charged for another month. I was also told I would receive personal training (2 free sessions) which I was looking forward to, to get comfortable with the equipment, and never could get in touch with someone. I called, completed surveys, emailed, no one would help me. As previously mentioned while I did love the classes and found them beneficial, I was disappointed that I was charged for Pilates (an extra amount when all classes were included) and that you can only sign up 24 hours ahead of time vs scheduling out your week. The facility was clean and well kept but overall I would not recommend to anyone.

We are sorry for the poor experience you had. Yes, our first year of membership is under contract and after that it is month to month. We apologize if you felt this was not expressed to you during joining.  Group classes can be booked ahead on our app up to 25 hours in advance of the class. We are currently making sure classes are spaced appropriately and not overfilled as we continue to battle COVID-19. We are glad to hear you enjoyed the classes and felt the facility to be clean and well taken care of.

ACAC is a very amazing place to be a member at. They have some of the nicest staff and they really care about their members safety (especially during COVID-19) The cafe is stocked with delicious food(s)/drink(s) and the endless machines and basketball courts are amazing. The locker-rooms are extremely nice and the staff super friendly. It's very nice to see a business who cares more about its members than anything else.

Great staff at all levels from the front desk to housekeeping to the trainers. Everyone is polite, knowledgeable, and willing to assist if you have a question or issue. The facility is clean and extremely well maintained with ample space on the exercise floors and in the locker rooms. The equipment is in great condition and there is enough of it, and enough variety, that wait times for any particular piece are limited. There is also a great amount of space on the exercise floors.

I lift nearly every day at ACAC.  First class gym.  People who say it is too expensive don’t use it enough.  Those who are serious about fitness get more than their money’s worth.
