I really loved that yesterday, after just two years since they installed a faulty HVAC system in my new home, they informed me they would no longer be working on it to call someone else that they were booked. I asked for a recommendation to fix it which they would not give. The unit had a severe issue when they installed it but they came out and it took them , and Lennox engineers days to fix it and get it running correctly. They said they spent more time and money correcting the issue than replacing it because they wanted to know what happened. They assured me that over the first 5 years they would monitor it and and make sure it operates properly because of the manufacturing parts warranty. I would only be responsible for labor after 2 years and that they guaranteed the unit was going to hold up. When I called yesterday I was simply told they would not be doing the work since the service warranty expired and I needed to call someone else. This was the first time I’ve called them about it since.

They installed two units in our new home in December of 2019. In summer of 2020, we had them out to fix the upstairs unit that quit working. They were responsive, quick, and friendly. They added freon and said due to winter installation, it just needed to be adjusted, and there was no charge. In May of 2021, the same unit quit working again. When we called, we were told he couldn't come until the next day, and it would be $125 plus cost of parts needed in order to get it checked and fixed. I reminded him it was 18 months old, and he reminded me they only have a 1 year labor warranty. We called someone else we trust to come fix it. He discovered that a part was initially installed incorrectly, and that the compressor had quit working. He installed the replacement compressor which was covered under manufacturer's warranty but the labor and replacement freon was not. Our contractor emailed Green to see what we could do to make it right and received no response. Our unit essentially never ran correctly, but it cooled our home for one season before we paid to have it repaired.

Let me start with the reschedule. I was very gracious when the technician called a few hours early on the date of my original appointment to ask if he could go ahead and come on “while he was in the area” to check out our problem. I said I was not at home currently but I could be in 20 min or if he needed to reschedule I didn’t mind as he stated he would be heading to another town and it sounded like a big inconvenience for him. Again I was gracious and just offered to reschedule as our unit was functional currently. So we rescheduled. He came out during our appointment window today. Very nice man, nicely dressed, clean. I told him our issue and he started assessing the problem at the air handler. I left him alone to do that as my toddler was running around so I wanted to give him space to assess without that distraction. When he returned downstairs he informed me that he turned off the dats sensor that “does nothing but cause problems” and could be causing our issue which I can see after some explanation from him. And while he was up there he “cleaned the flame sensor”. I don’t doubt his assessment that this part may have needed a cleaning. But I was not given a quote for this prior to completion. So I was charged the $85 diagnostic fee and an additional $60 for this cleaning. I called the company initially because we are still under warranty and our unit has now 3 times stopped functioning. I even told them I called due to warranty still in place. This house is only 3 years old and we’re the only owners. I get companies needing to have income from services. I just feel like the 10min he was here and essentially just turned off a part of the equipment already in place did not justify $145 out of pocket today. Especially considering his closing statement was “it’s a guessing game.”
