When my daughter went to see about enrolling her daughter at Hoke High. She stated that the staff was very rude. The freshmen counselor going to stick up her finger instead of saying excuse while I take this call. If you can not be professional while doing your job then you need to find another one. My granddaughter is hating the fact she has to attend Hoke High do to the way the staff treated them. Why do you have to go thru so much red tape to enroll your child(ren) in school.

As a current student, I have, overall, enjoyed my experience. I've taken numerous AP courses since my Freshman year, I currently take on-campus college classes offered by Sandhills Community College along with AP courses (which count as a college credit for all NC Colleges and Universities), and I am an active participant in our HOSA Chapter. Drugs are a common occurance on campus, but if you stay away from the people you know that are involved in that crowd, it doesn't harm your education. My teachers have been wonderfull and built personal relationships with each student, all also being certified to teach their subject with the proper summer trainings for AP courses. My AP Biology teacher was recently offered a job in Raleigh for having the best test scores in the entire state. Our Superintendent cares for the students, often visiting the campus and having discussions with our principal. Dr. Williamson was elected the superintendent of the state this year and was one of three that made it to the national superintendent platform. The guidance counselors make sure they meet with every student that requires their attention and the receptionists are very polite.

The school superintendent can care less about the children’s education and more about the athletics (football tm.) Some teachers dressing inappropriately, drugs being sold all over campus. Kids really vulnerable at Hoke High. What’s the purpose of Student Handbooks when the facilitators don’t abide by them? The news media needs to go out their and just see and show what our children have to deal with. I believe that we as parents/taxpayers deserve to be heard. When was the last time Hoke High has been tested, that is the teachers? Are they competent enough to really teach our children or is it just another paycheck. Time to focus on education and not athleticism. Moving to the area? Avoid Hoke County like the plague No AP courses, drugs sold by gangs in the bathrooms, counselors that could care less about student development, and the smallest class variety I have ever seen. My child has had their future put into jeopardy by this pathetic excuse for a school....they should just close the doors and start over somewhere else....please, if you are military and moving into the Bragg footprint, DO THE RESEARCH!!!! Hope Mills or even 71st is a better choice, I do not recommend this to anyone but the state licensing board for closure...it is that bad! I have had to pull my child out and home school them. They will complete HS before summer and will start collage this summer. The people of Hoke County should replace the school superintendant ASAP.
