Overall, the school is not terrible. The students are decent and most teachers are easy to talk to. There are of course exceptions to both of those statements. On the student side of things, there are a couple of questionable kids. Such as the one person that says quiet bit of anti-Semitic ‘jokes’. Though, that is not the main point. I myself personally do not like some of the admins but that’s from middle school experiences. Besides that, the way that covid is being handled has some problems. Instead of mandating masks like most counties, they are merely ‘suggested’. The seating chart recording is a good idea to keep track of kids but this is not used during lunch. That could be seen as a downfall since that is when people have their mask off and talk to their friends in close proximity. Another thing involving covid is the conditions in which a student may be quarantined and online schooling. I have experience with this through having been online for the first nine weeks of school. I have also been quarantined as well. During my time online my grades plummeted. I have to sign two separate grade contracts just so I wouldn’t fail out of the school. There was an offer to come back at the end of the nine weeks which I took. Moving on to being quarantined, the conditions are quite odd. I wear a mask 24/7 like some others. Now one of the girls that sat behind me in ⅘ got covid. She did not wear a mask. The person next to her got quarantined but not me because I was wearing a mask. I sat less than six feet away from her and would often turn around to chat with them. Not only that, but not long before she was quarantined, all three of us, plus one, were assigned as partners for a project. We were less than 3 feet apart at that point. There is also something weird with athletes and getting quarantine but I do not know much about it. That pretty much sums a bit of it up. Not all of it because I am incredibly tired and don’t want to put anymore effort into this.

If ECHS or SEHS is too slow for you, I highly suggest you come here. If you go to the normal HS, sure you’ll get better grades, but it isn’t a challenge. At STEM, the teachers challenge you and force you to do your best. If you apply yourself 70%, you’ll usually get 70% on your grades. If you apply yourself 100%, you’ll always get 100% on your grades. The teachers here know what they are talking about and there are less students than the HS’s, so the learning is more individualized. Most students complain about the homework, but it isn’t bad. It’s only about 30m-1h30m nightly (15m on weekends). If you think about it, it isn’t that long. If you have IF (instructional focus) at your Base School, you’ll have enough time. STEM also offers two days a week where you can do homework and such for 40 minutes if you need, so homework isn’t even that big of an issue. Just create a schedule and stick with it.
