DSE was out to my location in June of 2019 due to my home warranty company contracting them out. They came out and said my outside furnace needed replaced and my inside furnace needed cleaned. after 3 weeks, they finally come out and do the work. 1 week goes by and my air was still not working. Called the home warranty place and they sent DSE back out. They then stated that my inside unit needed replaced. After I just paid them to clean it. 2 weeks go by and they come out and replace my inside unit. 1 week goes by again and my ac is still not working. After 2 months, in August of 2019, my AC they said is fixed. Well in September of 2019 I turned the system off because the weather allowed me to use my windows. In November of 2019 I turn my heat on. In December of 2019 I get a DP&L bill of over 500 dollars. I call my home warranty place, but unfortunately my warranty expired in November. So they said I needed to call DSE to have them look at it. I called DSE in January and they came out to look at the unit. They said it had something to do with my thermostat, which I had just got less than 2 weeks before that. I told them I didn't believe anything was wrong with that because the bill was before that. They said to call my thermostat company and then get back with them. I paid DSE 89 dollars for the service charge and they left. Well I spent the next 3 weeks calling DSE and leaving messages with no replies or answers. I decided to have another company come out and take a look. This company stated that my duct work needed replaced. The duct work was so bad I was basically heating my attic. The company stated that this isn't something that just happened, this had to have been the same since June when DSE originally came out. If DSE would have done their job and fully inspected the unit, they would have noticed this back in JUNE and this would have been covered under my home warranty. Now I am having to come out of pocket 3700 dollars for new duct work. On top of that they wont even respond to my calls.

My warranty company contracted DSE to inspect our furnace, who determined it needed replaced. I have to say, I was unsure we were going to get any level of customer service that I would expect if I had hired someone of my own volition based solely on the Google reviews. I was SO BLOWN AWAY! The first technician was prompt, polite and incredibly professional. He didn’t give us news we wanted to hear, but we understood. He cared about our safety and made that evident, disabling our unit. He told us what time frames to expect for the next steps and even that exceeded his estimate. And Debbie!!! Total rockstar!!! She cares so much and when I ended up having a HORRIBLE experience with my warranty company she really went to bat for me, helped to guide me through how to overcome that issue, and when my warranty company failed us, she and DSE pulled through, getting our new furnace installed the next day. The install guys were also prompt, arriving as Debbie promised, were quick and efficient and HOLY COW WE HAVE HEAT!! So, screw the reviews other than this one. DSE is a great company and when you’re not an A $ & hole customer, these guys are going to give you great service at a great price. Thanks Debbie!!!

My home warranty company used DSE mechanical to address a non functioning air conditioning unit. I wished I would have looked up their online reviews beforehand (Shame on me #1) I was given a time range from 10 - 2pm. 2pm comes around and no sign of anyone. I called and spoke to a woman. I was told that this happens and that they will now be arriving between 2-4pm. I explained that this was an inconvenience and that I was disappointed that no one had the courtesy to call me that the technician was running behind. Response: Well, if you don't like it, you can cancel the appointment. I felt I had no other choice at the time (I wish I would have listened to myself at that moment and said thank you have a nice day - Shame on me #2). The woman was rude, lacked empathy, was condescending, and made it seem like she was doing me a favor. This behavior is consistent w/ reviews from google and yelp. So, 354pm arrives and I call back again with an update. Just like before with the same tone as before, I was told that it was not 4pm yet as there was still 6 minutes remaining (Another chance for me to say see you later - Shame on me #3). Fast forward to 430pm, and the tech finally arrives. In order to keep the review professional, I will leave out some details. I will say that for many reasons the technician did very little to give me a sense of confidence in his ability and judgement (The final chance for me to say see you later - Shame on me #4). The technician looked at my AC unit and furnace (rather quickly at that) and told me that I needed a new AC unit because "critters took out fan, capacitor, and relay". He then left. So, the next day the home warranty company calls me back and says that they do not cover damage caused by pests and that I am on my own. I tried to explain to the home warranty company my concern with the assessment and that I would like a second opinion. I was told that this was the assessment and that there is nothing more that they can do for me. So as you can imagine, I called for a second opinion. The technician from the second company said that yes there were pests, but he has never seen them destroy an HVAC unit before. Rather than stopping there, the technician used his voltmeter and determined that while there was high voltage power to the unit there was NO low voltage power supply to the unit. Now, I am not an expert at a lot of things, especially Air Conditioning unit, but that being said one of the first things I do when I am dealing with something that I do not know a lot about is to make sure that it has power. As an HVAC specialist I would think it would be pretty obvious that some units need both low and high voltage power supply. So as you, the reader probably already know, the low voltage line from the furnace to the air conditioner was repaired and GUESS WHAT - it fixed all the damage from the critters and the whole unit started working again. UNBELIEVABLE! So, i then had to call the home warranty company and spend hours on the phone with them to pay for a problem that should have been diagnosed correctly in the first place. Now why was such an easy diagnosis missed? End of day, fatigue, lack of knowledge, incentive to diagnose with a non-coverable problem.....? Who knows. I did ask the tech who was able to fix this, how can someone fail to misdiagnose such an easy problem. His response was that sometimes it is easy for someone to sell you a new unit because it takes too much time to diagnose a FIXABLE problem. Moral of the story, do you your homework on who is coming to your home (even if it is a home warranty company because they can send someone else) and end the business relationship when there are warning signs. Should I need to use the home warranty company again, I have asked them to put DSE mechanical on my DO NOT USE list.
