I was disappointed with the service from CD White technician Aaron. I called them because they were listed by Manitowac Ice machines as the local servicer. I called in because I had a leaking gauge that was making a mess on the floor. I also wanted to get the hose extended as it was rigid to the wall with PVC and hard to isolate the leak quickly. I let the dispatcher know all this ahead of time. They showed up, 2 techs, one watched while the other (Aaron) 'diagnosed' the leaking gauge that I'd already reported. He didn't have a replacement, but I told them go ahead with cleaning the machine (the second tech did a good job on this). They adjusted the ice a bit too, which was nice (5 second job). They didn't extend the hose to the machine. He like it better this way... He changed the filter element, basically putting a $98 part in a system that was going to be replaced soon anyway (the filter assembly comes with a new filter - he neglected to mention this). He spent 25 minutes in the driveway writing up the bill and charged 3.5 hrs at $95/hr. I asked him where the extra time came from (they were actually there about 2 hrs) - he said it was a long ride to my house. Aaron called a local supplier and found that I could get a new filter assembly in town for about $250 to solve the leaking issue, and then signed off the work order as "Operating Properly." As far as I was concerned, it was in the exact shape to me as when they arrived, an unrepaired leak. So, actually it was turned off and isolated. I went on line and found the whole filter assembly (complete with Manitowac Sticker on it) for $148. It arrived 2 days later and I installed it myself in ten minutes; the filter assembly, new gauge and filter attached. These guys understood the equipment and could've made my experience a whole lot better by having my best interests as a priority. The size of the charge appeared to be the focus. 2 Stars should've been 5 Stars.
