We purchased a Fujitsu unit from Kelly at Air Comfort for our son's attic room. The unit had a faulty coil and was only marginally functional from the start. Air Comfort came out two or three times to try and fix it and for a while it seemed to work. This winter when it got cold it stopped functioning altogether, so we called them. We had many service calls, each with a technician who was unable to fix the problem. Eventually they diagnosed it as a faulty unit and removed it. All told, the unit was out of commission from October through January, each time with an explanation that the part hadn't arrived. Finally it was replaced and fixed, though the technicians did not replace the shelter we'd built to protect the unit from ice falling from the eaves. Weren't we surprised when we got a 600.00 bill for labor from Air Comfort. They had never charged for any of the other calls because they had told us the unit was under warranty, so this was a shock. When we emailed Kelly to ask, he told us that the labor was not covered. We offered to work with him, but he responded with a note that concluded with a threat to take us to collections. When I wrote back, his tone got even nastier saying that there would be consequences if I "told people a lie about air comfort." All of this is factual. I cannot recommend them, They did sub-standard work and refused to admit they were at fault, blaming the manufacturer. When we offered to work with them, they were unfriendly and threatening. I am really sorry we contracted them. All the "friendly local business stuff" went right out the window when something went wrong. We are going to pay them, but I will never use them or Fujitsu again. Save yourself the headache and go somewhere else.

I do not recommend Air Comfort or the Fujitsu brand. In my experience, the management was untruthful, the staff untrained, and the equipment unreliable. Initially, we found Kelly helpful and personable, and the installation went okay. We did have some problems after, but both times, Kelly came out and cheerfully, efficiently, fixed the problems (without charge). We were stoked about the Fujitsu because of reputation for reliability and because of its lifetime warranty. In December the unit quit working, so we gave them a call, hoping it was like one of those quick fixes like the other times. A different technician came out to look at it and said he was new to working on Fujitsus. Eventually, he got it going, and left, but it only ran for a short time after. This continued for about four weeks: Us calling to report the unit wasn’t working, them coming out at their convenience, getting it running (for a few hours) and leaving again. After six weeks of head scratching and failed repairs, I was informed that the coils on some of these Fujitsus were made of sub-standard materials and were failing prematurely. There’s no way of telling which Fujitsu you’ve gotten, so we had apparently gotten one of the lemons. The unit needed to be removed from the house and taken to their shop for repairs. After seven weeks of working on our unit that the technician informed me that they’d learned that the Fujitsu warranty covered parts but not labor. But he also reassured me we’d only be charged a service charge. (The full warranty was discussed many times on these visits.) When they finally reinstalled the unit after eight weeks, it blew up just as the technician was driving away, due to incorrect installation. He came back another day and reinstalled it and it’s been running since (fingers crossed). Not only did we spend more than two months of an Iowa winter without heat, we’re now left paying off an unexpected bill. We asked Kelly to work with us on this and compromise, but instead he threatened us and went on to lie about everything that had previously been said about the warranty. (No, I did not read the small print, so I guess that’s on me. Buyer beware.) For what it’s worth, I don’t think he had read the small print either, since they were weeks into the job before they told me they’d realized labor wasn’t covered. It’s the blatant lying which makes me caution others from doing business with them. I saw another review about Kelly yelling at his employees and treating them poorly—I have no trouble picturing that from the way we were treated.

What can I say? Kelly and his company continue to go all out for the customer. Our AC went out. We were going to be days before a new unit could come in and I was working on alternatives for our comfort - friends, family, etc... the hottest weekend of the year was upon us. I came home and Kelly is leaving my house. He found a spare part around the shop, installed it. Checked to make sure it was functioning properly and was off to work on the bid for the new one. He didn’t have to, I was ok with waiting, he was not. Great guy! Great service! These are the types of local companies I love to work with. Thanks Kelly!
