  My initial call to them was to have my living room AC unit fixed. The unit just stopped working. On February 8, 2019, one of their technicians by the name of N*** came by. He wasn't very professional in his demeanor and appearance but I was fine with them as long as he got the job done. He opened the AC panel and looked at it for 15 minutes at most, and stated that the problem was not with the AC unit and that I had to call an electrician. At this point, I figured he was done but he went down stairs for reasons unknown, twice, and overstayed his welcome even after I had stated that there wasn't anything else needed from him. Then, a couple of weeks after this visit, I got an invoice for $212.04 from Standard Sheetmetal. I was out of town for a business trip so I called them when I got back to have them justify this criminalistic billing. The gentleman I spoke with was M.Y. He stated that N*** was fired along with their former customer service manager, putting M.Y. into a difficult position of answering to many upset customers. He looked at the work order N*** wrote up and stated that it was not legible and the charge was unjustifiable. M.Y. offered to discount the bill by half, to which I declined and stated that I am only going to pay for 15 minutes of the technician's time at most. We agreed to an amount of $35.34 and I openly expressed that, though I was still very dissatisfied with the service and the fact that I have to pay anything at all, I am willing to pay the agreed upon new amount because M.Y. was courteous and I felt sympathy for the difficult position in which he was placed. M.Y. was appreciative and he stated that he would like for me to consider giving them a second chance should I ever need their services again. Interestingly, when the electricians came out and fixed the living room unit, the guest room unit started having similar issues. The electricians couldn't figure out the problem so they suggested that I call an A/C specialist. Remembering how honest and courteous M.Y. was, I thought, "Why not?" and I gave him a call. When he answered, initially, he did not remember me and had stated that he'd been dealing with many complaints and that it's been a chaos. After describing the issues I went through with them, he remembered who I was. I thanked him for being an honest and courteous person and delivering as he had promised, and that I was calling to give Standard Sheetmetal another chance as I was having issues with another A/C unit. Here is the shocking part - M.Y. stated that, though personally, he would appreciate my willingness to give them a second chance, their office remembers me and that they refuse to service me as a customer. He went on to say that the office is upset that I called in the past to complain about a bill and for the work they had to go through to generate a second bill, that they made the statement of never servicing me again in the future. After hearing this, I said to M.Y. that was fine and that there are other A/C companies I can call. With that said, however, I let him know that I am concerned for Standard Sheetmetal, because if this is the way they treat their customers, they are going to lose a lot of them. Unbelievable that this company can survive with their level of customer service and that they have someone telling customers that the entire office is upset with them.

  We are a rental agency and deal with Standard Sheet Metal on a recurring basis and we will always use them for our service. Thank you Steve for excellent customer service and professional AC maintenance.

  Our air conditioning system in our enclosed office has been down for 2 weeks and we are still waiting to have it fixed. They are waiting for a part from the East Coast, which has not been shipped— still waiting.
