I attend the Sibley County Fair on a yearly basis mainly for the 1:00pm Sunday Ranch Rodeo Event at the Horse Arena. I would have given them 5 Stars but this year (8-4-19) their hosting skills & rude parking attendants put a bad taste in all of us "horse peoples" mouths. I was greatly shocked and extremely disappointed. I will say...Those that man the entrance gates are always friendly informative people, easily directing you to where you would want to park during particular events. Parking on the fairgrounds is only $5.00 otherwise the fair is Free. However this year (2019) the fair was having a "Slam Demolition Derby" on Sunday at 1:30pm at their Grand Stand. So.... Sibley Co. Fair members decided that they needed extra/closer parking space for Demo Derby spectators... They took it from the nearby Horse Arena participants parking area! Really?! Plus they failed to notify the Ranch Rodeo Hosts of the parking changes until the day of... Let Me Remind Those of You That Know Nothing About Horse Events... We haul with LIVE Animals anywhere from 1 to 2+ hours away with our trucks pulling 18' ft bumper pulls on up to 34' ft goose-neck trailers!! These Demo Derby Fair people sent horse trailer rigs out into what we called the "Back 40" which isn't mowed or easy to get into or out of with any type of truck or horse trailer (trailers did get stuck!)! There's no close water access for the horses! Competitors are not within sight or short distance of the Horse Arena! Plus it's way out of speaker announcement range which caused many delays for competitors and event hosts. On top of all of this none of the garbage cans had been emptied from the horse show the day before. Several were overflowing with garbage on the ground plus it was 12:00pm in the afternoon... the Ranch Rodeo was starting at 1:00pm! I took it upon myself to wrangle in the "county fair parking patrol" in their fancy UTV who had been redirecting Ranch Rodeo competitors (from their usual parking area!) into the "Back 40.". No surprise...At first they (men) felt that it wasn't their responsibility (like they were above that) blaming it on the people who were supposed to that the day before and proceeded to call over a couple of other guys in their UTV who said they "would get to it soon"... That's when I said, "How soon?" reminding them when our event was starting and that the Ranch Rodeo does draw a good crowd which always fills the garbage cans! They anteed up, taking care of the 6 full garbage cans within 15 minutes making sure when they returned they all had new garbage bags in them too! I did kindly thank that crew for their speedy actions. But, to noone's surprise at the end of the day...as usual those garbage cans were full! However we left NO overflowing garbage, we're always respectful. As for our normal horse trailer parking spots near the Horse Arena that the Demo Derby people confiscated... Not even HALF of our lot was filled by those spectators! On top of that the Derby started AFTER the Ranch Rodeo and ENDED 2+ Hours BEFORE our Event did which then left our original parking area completely empty for easily 2 hours!! I sure hope that next year (2020) will be better organized with smarter/realistic/practical people when it comes to Sunday Events dealing with horses & motor car events! This year was an epic fail with horse people being treated with complete disrespect allowing no compromise!! I'd really like to give Sibley Co. Fair a better review but that will have to wait until next year.

Several home cooking booths for 3 church groups, Lions club, Veterans, and a few others, a beer booth corn giveaway on Friday at 3 pm, judging to go on to state fair for animals, food, vegtables, jelly, 4H, crafts and more. Race track for racing, demolition, horses, tractor pull I think and music all over A lot of fun.

Wonderful and entertaining County fair! A perfect hometown and friendly country fair, something for everyone! Lots of animals, exhibits, good fair food, rides for kids of course, friendly honest people! There are transport carts for those that need assist from one end to another. There is no entrance charge either! My favorite county fair!
