I cannot say enough good things about my recent appointment with a Sears Repair technician. He was very professional and checked out the A/C system thoroughly. He gave very good advice re: maintenance of the other electrical appliances in my house for which I am very grateful and recommended further coverage of these items. The personnel managing the phones also make a good impression as they try to assist the customer in the right direction. The whole experience was a very positive one. I feel that Sears is very reliable for all home services and would rate them highly to my friends and family.

First I want to stress that my displeasure is not with the service technician that arrived on time, and was pleasant to work with. My rating is based solely on the dishonesty of the company, and without saying so I really think the technician felt bad that the company was treating people this way. A little honesty goes a long way toward retaining customers. When I called the office, I asked for an estimate for replacing a heating element in my dryer. I was pretty sure I knew what was wrong, and just wanted numbers so I could decide if I wanted to pay them to come out, or cut my losses and purchase a new dryer. I was given an estimate of $240 which would include labor and parts, so I decided to have them come do the repair. As it turns out, I was correct in the diagnosis, but somehow the price went from $240, to $450. If I decided NOT to do the repair they were still going to charge me $90 for them making the trip, and the only way it would be $240 is if I purchased a home warranty for a minimum of $50/month. Extremely dishonest business practice in my opinion, and I will never use this company again. With customer service like this there's no wonder Sears may not be around much longer.
