Steve really knows his stuff and is a real straight shooter. He told us exactly what we needed and didn't try to upsell (gave options, but no pressure, and gave his honest opinions about what fit our needs/budget best). He provided a very reasonable/competitive estimate and stuck to it upon completion of the installation. He was really helpful in helping us understand our new boiler system, very thorough. He did masterful work fitting a new/upgraded system into a nearly century old home. We would highly recommend him without reservation.

Scheduled a time for Steve to come repair my furnace, which was having trouble igniting properly. He came out and “diagnosed” the problem and cleaned off the flame sensor, which he charged $225.00 to perform. I was never provided with an estimate before the work was done. Roughly 4 hours later, at 6:00pm, the furnace began having the same problem, so we called Steve out again. He came out and checked a number of things only to discover that the furnace filter needed to be replaced too. He informed us that the second visit was now after hours, so he charged us an after hour fee and the second visit was $250.00. So, we were charged $500.00 for what cost us $150 last year. Also, he does not carry his own cell phone, so he had to use my tenants phone while he was at the house. All around unprofessional and incompetent repairman. Call at your own risk and expect exorbitant prices!! Steve did not explain anything to me over the phone or provide me with any estimates throughout this awful experience. He also never told me anything about warranties or extra fees after hours. He kept telling me about things he thought he remembered saying on the phone, but that were never actually discussed. His communication skills are awful. I believe he thought this job would be an easy fix, so he came to the house and rather than doing a complete diagnostic of the furnace (which was his job and what we paid for) he figured he could save some time and make some easy money by going straight to the furnace sensor. Steve came to the house both times without a working cell phone and had to use my tenants phone, which is completely unprofessional. I think the first thing Steve should do with the money he stole from us is buy a car charger for his cell phone to minimize the level of unprofessionalism that is conveyed to the client throughout future interactions. The fact that he is willing to lie in his response to my feedback demonstrates that he is not someone that I would ever want working on my furnace again in the future. I would strongly suggest you find someone else and avoid the headache of working with this guy. If you decide to proceed, do so at your own risk and be prepared to get ripped off.

      Response from the owner

Jason that lives out of state homeowner called and scheduled no heat repair on his rental home. He said another company had cleaned flame sensor last year on furnace and worked well since repair. I advised over the phone $100 Trip/Diagnostic-$100hr+parts A emergency service call is Time and Material When I arrived renter escorted me in and said Jason wants me to show renter how to clean sensor step by step so the renter can clean sensor in future. He watched me do everything Found blink code on furnace indicating flame sensor signal- Cleaned flame sensor/Checked Micro Amps 2.5=Good No other codes at time $225 Total 1st call Jason called back after 6pm said furnace not working and said it was blinking same code. I said I would come back in morning under warranty Being below zero out Jason requested I come back that night I explained no warranty at night and would be a charge to come back. When I went back the furnace was blinking a different code. I checked the gas pressure, cleaned flame sensor again I found 16x25x4 furnace filter plugged- Renter texted Jason and said plugged filter. Jason texted back that he had not changed filter in years- Installed new filter which i had on truck Second call=$150 Labor$25 filter=$175 total Jason claims I charged him $500 When his invoices total only $400 (225+175=400) Renter Eric and his wife thanked me for fixing both issues on furnace that night and having filter on truck Renter called Jason to explain and get payment from owner My company phone was low battery at time I was told in the beginning that not igniting. Doing same thing as last year flame sensor. I showed renter how to do everything as requested It is very unfortunate that Furnace had multiple problems. Homeowner quite upset that he had to pay for filter change that renter is responsible for per lease. In the future I recommend annual maintenance $100 to a furnace that has been neglected to prevent future problems Steve
