  From my initial call until the invoice was paid, everything with Performance Mechanical was top notch & professional. Christian, the technician, showed up on time, quickly diagnosed & fixed the problem, then took the time to perform additional checks & tests on my HVAC system. I really appreciated the text & email contact & the ability to pay online - even using Apple Pay! Thanks Performance Mechanical. Nice to see a company in Lake County with such a polished customer service experience.

  Bottom line? The swamp cooler is working fantastic but get a written cost estimate up front. The reason I called is that the motor stopped turning the drum. The technician performed many maintenance tasks, was friendly but not overly friendly. He took the time to explain things and answer my questions. He drained the water, cleaned out the dirt from the bottom of the case, replaced the float, replaced a connector, checked the water line. He may have done other things that I don't know about. The technician also performed some major tasks. He checked the voltage at the breaker and at the outlet which were okay but the voltage at the on/off switch was only 48 volts so he replaced the switch after getting my approval. The cost of replacing the switch was about $160. The cost of the diagnostics was $129. So before the technician left, I paid via credit card $289. He said there was a problem with the existing motor running hot and it would only run at low speed but the motor may not last long. I asked him how much to replace the motor and he said it would be about $200 but he didn't have one in his van. The technician left and I texted the company to let them know that the motor would probably fail and I would need to get a new one. They said they would quote me the next day but I did not hear from them. So I called them the next day and they rescheduled someone to come out and replace the motor. The technician arrived early which was not a problem. He got right to work and finished replacing the motor and the maintenance tasks. It was the same technician and again he was willing to explain things and answer my questions. In both visits he was always professional. But when it came time to pay the bill for the motor replacement it was $410. I said I thought it was going to be about $200. He said prices have gone up due to covid and other reasons. I have zero issues with the quality of work. The swamp cooler is working great and the technician was professional and on time (even early). Both visits lasted about 2 hours each. It was my own fault just not making sure I knew ahead of time exactly what the cost was going to be. I know roughly how much motors cost so if I was quoted $400 I may have went in a different direction. With the summer season coming up, I am very glad that the swamp cooler is working. In the long run will I really care about an extra couple hundred dollars? Probably not. But the shock of $200 vs. $400 was enough to say something about getting a quote in writing. RG

  Performance Mechanical is always very professional and always on-time. They really do a great job of making sure the customer is taken care of as soon as possible. I wish I had more vendors with the same work ethic.
