I called the County Clerk's office because I received a speeding ticket. My directions on the ticket for safety school say to call the "clerk's office". So I googled that for a number. I apparently called the wrong one. I spoke with a lady named Kara. She was incredibly rude because I made this mistake. She spoke to me in a way to make me feel stupid for calling the wrong number, and proceeded to hang up on me. I was very disappointed in the customer service I received. The ticket should list a phone number if this is an error that occurs often, as Kara seemed instantly annoyed by someone calling a wrong number.

Two out of three times have been a seamless experience with friendly service. I did feel like I should knock off one star for the third one. The lady that helped me the third time I've been there recently, for whatever reason, just seemed to make it as difficult as possible. I do understand there are rules and regulations that need to be followed, so I can't 100% fault that--just the way she went about enforcing them I suppose. Situation: My grandfather passed away recently, and my grandmother (his next of kin) wanted to give me his three old cars, none of which have been on the road for 20-30 years, as gifts--so she signed the titles to each and away I went. The lady who went before me needed a replacement sticker for her tags, and the lady at the counter was being a stickler for "You MUST provide us the tag number or we can't give you the stickers." After going back and forth seemingly needlessly for a bit, the woman behind the counter finally agreed to look up the vehicle by name and make and model and give her a replacement sticker (If you can do that to begin with, WHY hassle the customer??) First time at the counter: "Oh, well, your grandmother isn't allowed to just sign these over to you. You'll need to bring a death certificate that shows she is next of kin." That's fair enough, so I left, and called my grandmother up to the office from her home (just in case she might need to sign something else). Second time at the counter: "Ok, the death certificate is in order, you'll need to fill out three gift affidavits--one for each car." (Good thing I actually got my grandmother to show up in person, or this would have been yet ANOTHER trip back to the office). That seemed silly to me since the forms don't have any vehicle-specific information on them--she did thankfully agree that we could only fill out one form and she'd just make two more copies. Third time at the counter: "Ok, now do you just want regular license plates?" I explained (as I already had twice) that neither of these vehicles run--they're all 40+ years old. "You MUST get license plates--you cannot get just a title. You must provide proof that none of them run." (HOW on earth would I do THAT??). She backed up and thought for a minute, "When was the last time these vehicles were on the road?" I replied with years for each. "Ok, I can call the state of TN and get you just a title-only." (Again--if she had the ability to do that to start with, WHY needlessly hassle the customer?) Finally, time to pay: "Oh, no, we don't take Discover." I handed her a different card. A different woman behind the desk then told her, "Yes, we DO take Discover." I am just exasperated at this point. We thankfully got it done, I did feel like that last experience could have gone a lot smoother and that there was no reason for it to be as much of a hassle as it was.
