Called Oconee Climate Control out on 1/29 because our unit wasn’t putting out heat. They sent out a technician later that day who told us we had a leak in the system and added 2 lbs of refrigerant but never fixed the leak because it was “hard to find” and would have required a more in depth search. We were charged $880. Fast forward to 2/9 and we had to call a technician back out due to having no heat yet again.. less than two weeks later. We were then told that our system was “shot” and charged another $180 to tell us there was nothing he could do and that we needed an entire new system. So now we are out almost $1k for them to tell us we need an entire new system that would likely cost at least $6k. Called another company and got a second opinion and the leak was not only found, but fixed and our system was working like before. Extremely disappointed with OCC and they’re attempt to “fix” our heat. Seems to me that it was all about getting as much money out of us as possible. Definitely would NOT recommend.

We hate to hear you feel you had a bad experience with Oconee Climate Control. Oconee Climate Control keeps meticulous records including work orders and recorded phone calls. I will share with you our records of the events and the order in which it transpired. You called in Saturday, January 29th and stated that “over the past couple of days the fan has been cutting on but no heat is coming out, and I keep getting messages from our Nest thermostat saying that our heat pump is not working efficiently, yada yada yada. It is 52 degrees in the house, so I was just trying to get someone to come out sooner rather than later.” Technician asked if you wanted to do after hours or during normal business hours. You stated, “The quicker you can come out the better.” You were quoted overtime rates and you stated that was fine. (Please note that all after hours and weekend telephone conversations are recorded.) On 01/29/2022 the service call went as follows: “System not heating. Checked operation of system. Found filter in air handler stopped up. Checked nest thermostat configuration. Disable nest sensing and increase heaters lock out to 55*F from 34*F. Amped out heaters, observed defrost cycle and checked charge. Found system low on 410A refrigerant. Spoke with customer and requested adjust charge. Adjusted charge to factory specifications using 2lbs-410A # 252 cannot guarantee how long refrigerant charge will last. Performed leak search on equipment but wasn’t able to pick up on leak at this time. Also, tested electrical components and connections. System is operating properly at time of service. 165*F dt. /+45*F td. If system leaks back down may require a high-pressure nitrogen test to locate.” (Weather conditions at the time of the call: Dark and 34 degrees) On 02/08/2022 you called in and stated system not working and the service call went as follows: Checked operation of system. Found outdoor unit out on low pressure. Checked indoor and outdoor unit after pressurizing and found major leak in condensing unit where copper rubbed into and dumped complete charge. Leak is repairable and spoke with Mrs. Fagan about repairs needed also tried to contact Mr. Fagan while on site but unable to contact while on site. Customer does not want to repair and requested quote for system replacement. No one said your system was “shot,” and you were not charged an additional $180.00. You were not charged at all. We reached out to you and left you messages to discuss repairing the system. You did not return our calls. Matters cannot be resolved when there is no communication.

Didn’t do anything. , but did offer some advice. Technician was very nice. They were out in my area anyway. I thought service charge was a little steep. I have a maintenance program with them. Not really sure if it helps or not. I have a package unit which only requires filter change.

Michael Chandler provides a superb and unique kind of service. He takes the time to speak to me about my heating systems working conditions and gives me tips about its performance and maintenance. He is methodic, thorough, personable, honest.
