  Long review, here. We had an old style thermostat, so I bought a new Honeywell WiFi unit from Amazon for $152. All the bells and whistles. Once I removed the old unit from the wall, I discovered it was a 4-wire unit and we needed 5 wires for the new one. So, I called Nicollet to have a C wire installed. They looked and discovered there was no way to route in the wire, so they offered me a used digital non-WiFi Honeywell therm for $35. They said it was free to them as it was pulled from a different customers house. They installed that and it’s working. The total visit was $135. And they were nearly 2 hours late. One guy told me the used thermostat (again, not WiFi compatible) is worth $180. There is no way it is or ever was that much. Just felt a little shady. I’d go with someone else next time. I also just found that Amazon has a 5 wire to 4 wire converter box for $14. that will enable me to use the new, much better thermostat I’d previously intended to use. I told one of the guys about it and it was new to his ears. Shouldn’t they be aware of such options? About their lateness...I’m not really happy about that. I had to call to ask if he was still coming. A while later, he called and said he was running very late and asked if he could come next week. I had to plead a bit to get him to come later today. Maybe I’m old school, but when you call and make an appointment, that should be that. An appointment is a commitment, not an option. I got the impression I never would’ve received a call about the schedule problem. I simply would’ve waited. The $135. seemed steep since I’d already removed the old unit from the wall, making the install of the used thermostat very easy - less than 5 min. to install. Judge for yourselves.
