There's not much negative I can say about being a boater, except when you need to get something fixed. Support is hard to find and quality support is even harder. That said, Mike at Midwest has never failed me. He's both courteous and inquisitive, then he lays out his towels (to keep a clean space) and gets right to work upon arrival. His ability to quickly find and solve problems shows just how exceptionally knowledgeable he is. Not only that, he's got hustle; literally running up and down the dock. I can appreciate smart and efficient work...that's the value you get from Mike and the Midwest crew. Thanks for keeping us cool!

Midwest Cruiseair fraudulently charge my credit card $386.56 without any authorization from my wife or myself. According to Mike Lorentz, the owner of Midwest Cruiseair, it was for providing us an estimate for putting in a new HVAC system into our older houseboat. Mr Lorentz conducted himself very arrogantly during our multiple attempts to rectify this situation. Although we have tried on our own many times the owner – Mike Lorentz, wasn’t willing to listen and hung up the phone on us. We also tried working through CapitolOne dispute customer service, and Mr. Lorentz hung up on them as well; on two separate occasions. The August 13th appointment with Midwest Cruisair was for a free estimate for a new marine HVAC system, conducted by Mike Lorentz himself. We asked Mr. Lorentz multiple times if this consultation would cost anything, and he said it would not. Mr. Lorentz said he could not provide us an HVAC proposal without this onsite survey/consultation. Mr. Lorentz conduct before and during this survey event was demeaning, rude and condescending towards us. We knew right away we didn’t want to do business with this type of person. We received the HVAC estimate on August 20th, via email from Teresa at Midwest Cruisair. Midwest Cruisair (Teresa) contacted us again via email to follow up on the estimate August 28th. This resulted in the Midwest Cruisair using our credit card that they kept on file and charging us $386.55 without our consent to, on September 5th. It appears that because we did not respond to their email prompts, Mr. Lorentz decided to charge us for his time spent conducting the survey on August 13th. Mr. Lorentz’s response to our questioning the charges was the following: Estimates/consults of this level are included when there is a commitment. However, we have heard zero from you or Mike re this quote. Teresa e mailed you to ask and not even a response. There is phone service in most corners of the globe these days so I’m confident the message was received. A simple note in return would be ethical considering the time I invested in your project. I would love to do your project for you. If you choose to hire me the fees charged will be seen as a credit against the balance due upon completion of the work. At no time did we agree to this payment.
