  A relative was referred to Mel's by a friend. Needless to say, we were very pleased. Literally called and the same day the technician showed up. Not only showed up, but actually checked out the system and didn't try to sell anything. Imagine that, not trying to sell "coils" or "condensers" or "vapor lock preventives". When asked if he could install new air filters, he checked them out and said, "no need" because the filters were in good shape. Needless to say, this is a local business we will be telling people about. A+ service, professional, high quality, value for money, and honest. If you don't use them, that's on you. But you will end up using them in the end, just after you have spent more money with some of these other shady companies who are only out to make a quick buck. Seriously, use Mel's. Another update: The heating unit would not work and it was January. Called Mel's and tech was there within an hour. Didn't try and sell a new system, just figured out what was wrong, and fixed it pronto. And seriously, why aren't you using Mel's?

  Mel’s has a lot of great reviews from happy customers, but unfortunately my recent experience was not good. Last year they serviced my furnace and let me know that I would need to replace a component in the future. They took notes so they would be ready and could have the necessary part when I requested a follow up visit. This year I asked them to come make the noted repair. The serviceman was polite and courteous but let me know that he did not have the correct part and that they would need to get a special, discontinued part for my older unit that would cost $320 instead of the $150 original quote. Assuming he was correct, I agreed. After he replaced the part on his second visit I looked at the new part and noticed that it was a generic component that can easily be purchased for around $100. I contacted Mels’ twice regarding the issue and was eventually told that I could get a 10% discount, about $42. When I brought up the fact that the expensive part I was paying for wasn’t even used I was told that the extra costs were for the extra service call and a trip to Modesto for the generic part. In other words, I was charged almost $200 extra because they didn’t bring the correct part on their first visit. If you’re told that you will need to pay extra for a “special” part, beware.

  Incredible service !! I called Mel’s on a Sunday and got a callback from Noel that day. Robert came out and did the diagnostic on Monday and ordered the parts. Michael came back on Tuesday and completed the job. Extremely impressed with the service and professionalism.
