MDT was originally dispatched as part of a home warranty call from the big one most people know. First time out I received the junior/new HVAC techs. I get it, warranty claims are easy money as 90+% are super easy fixed that even a new/junior tech can resolve. My issue was more than that ... first dispatch they came and the jr. tech said my fan motor needed replacing (after spending time with his manager or the owner on the call). Told me I could wait many weeks for the warranty company or he could go to West Chester and get the part now, I'd pay out of pocket, and I could submit later. Gave me a price, I said hey, this doesn't feel right -- called his manager/boss and they knocked $100 off. I called around and the price for the work seemed fair. Okay fine ... that didn't resolve the problem. They left and and I had report again to the warranty company the issue wasn't resolved. This time, MDT sent a "retail" technician vs. a warranty one -- meaning someone with experience. He went through his motions, said okay the defrost board needs replacing, ordered the part and I'd have to wait ... so I waited. When the part finally came in the original jr. tech arrived to install the new board. I reached out to the sr. tech who said he was no longer with the company and that MDT was only focused on warranty work now. The jr. tech replaced the board and, in the process, blew a fuse on the furnace controller board. He didn't have replacement but I did. The issue now was my AC wasn't working at all -- previously it would run for 30-60min, I could turn it off for 30min, and then would run for another 30-60min (clearly the defrost control board was the real root cause). The jr. tech then said okay, I'm a junior tech, I don't know, we may have another company out since I can't fix this -- but I'll have the owner call you (spoiler alert: he never called). MDT closed the ticket and I had the warranty company re-open it as the issue wasn't resolved -- a new company was then assigned. The new company came out, American Team, and said the reversing valve was burned out as a result of the defrost control board being replaced and it needed to be replaced. A few days went by and I heard from the warranty company that I would have to pay out of pocket (after I already did for a lot of money for a fan motor that didn't need replacing) to have the refrigerant refilled as a result of the valve needing to be replaced -- the same valve MDT tech burned out replacing the defrost control board. When I asked the warranty company about why I would have to pay for that since MDT was the one who damaged my reversing valve, hence the refrigerant needing replaced, they said MDT said I was aggressive and requested the ticket to be handled by another company (I have video footage showing otherwise and their junior tech saying he'd be really upset if he was in my position). MDT is the worst kind of company, looking for easy money and doesn't care about their customers. When their technicians screw up, they seem to blame the customer and don't stand by their work. Multiple times during the process I was told by the junior and senior tech that the owner would call me but he never did. This company is very disingenuous and I would recommend if they are assigned to you by your warranty company you ask for someone else so they don't scam you like they did me.

Mark arrived on time and was extremely nice and professional. He showed me what the problem was and fortunately had the part on his truck. He fixed my A/C and the price was more than reasonable. Its so refreshing to have a repair done with someone who likes their job and is professional and timely. Thanks MDT for sending Mark to my home! Valuable employee!

This is a horrible business. A HVAC technician came into my home and disassembled our condensate pump, told my wife that we need a total new one that will cost us $800 dollars but can work on it today for a special price of $400 dollars. We told the technician we have home insurance and it should cover, he told us our home insurance would not. We told him we will contact our home insurance company first so he decided to leave. He then called our home insurance and told them nothing was wrong with our HVAC system. When he informed our insurance company of everything, the MDT technician lied and said he didn't disassemble our condensate pump which caused a big issue. PLESE EVERYONE, STAY AWAY FROM THIS COMPANY. ZERO INTERGRITY. The company will cause you more headaches than the one you had prior to using them.
Response from the owner
Sir your original call was to the warranty company mdt warranty services but I have done the research and I would like to clarify some things 1. MDT warranty services is not mdt heating and air it’s a completely different division of the company all together and currently mdt hearing and air is not accepting new Customers 2. Mdt warranty services sent a tech to your house originally and that tech found your unit iced up due to a dirty filter. His recommendation was to reroute the trap so the customer could easily performs routine maintenance . The tech left the unit running. And left a price for repairs that you declined at that time. That repair included a trap and a filter 3. You called back in to your home warranty company because you said it was still leaking when the technician returned he found you had your condensate pump in a turkey pan and that you had not returned the drain pipe into the pump when you had changed your filter. By not properly replacing the pipe causing the turkey pan to fill with water in turn causing the pump to fail your home warranty denied the claim . The home warranty software is all picture and gps tracked so if you’d like to see the photos submitted to them please reach out to them at <[email protected]> 4. The $800 price left behind by the technician was for a proper pump installed with a gfi outlet and proper pvc trap work because currently it is hot wired off the unit improperly and the discount he was giving was a ahs customer discount Hope this clears things up if you have any questions Give me a call Mark D Turner JR 484-798-5192
