  We were very pleased with our experience. Terry and Melissa responded quickly and professionally to our request for an AC installation. I know they are very busy but they made sure we had everything working (coordinating the electrician team as well as their team) and it was all up and running in time for our worst heat wave ever. Terry gave us options and explained our choices and pricing. Very transparent. Installation team was friendly, professional, respectful. I felt fine leaving the house to go to work, trusting them at my home. I’d highly recommend them!

  My experience with McDowell & Son was “Five Star.” I would recommend them to anyone in a heartbeat. Responsible. Reliable. Respectful. BACKGROUND: I had previously contacted the area’s biggest / most well-known Heating and Cooling company for service due to a problem with our “very low mileage” HVAC—had to wait two weeks before a technician was available. It was discovered that mice had nested in the outdoor unit and chewed wiring in the control unit, and the damage was “extensive.” I was advised to replace the outdoor unit rather than attempt a repair. I waited weeks for an estimate. The recommendation then escalated to replacement of the ENTIRE system (indoor and outdoor units) for a whopping $20,000—otherwise “AHRI compatibility could not be guaranteed.” ?!?!?! At that point, I contacted McDowell & Son for a second opinion. They were able to send out a service tech the same day (just lucky timing). The service-person, albeit young, was knowledgeable beyond his years—a real problem solver—who carried out a *very* thorough inspection and diagnostics. Later the same day, I was actually able to speak with Terry, the owner of McDowell & Son, and a repair plan was formulated. On the second service call, after several hours with a soldering iron and a dust brush, the unit was up and running—GOOD.AS.NEW. Lesson learned: caveat emptor (buyer beware). HVAC companies differ (widely) in service levels and approaches to sales and customer care. Contacting McDowell & Son was one of the best decisions I’ve made. As I said, I would recommend them to anyone in a heartbeat. They’ve certainly earned my trust and respect.

  We have had a wonderful experience with McDowell & Son Heating and Air Conditioning! In December 2018 the (very old) heat pump in a labor housing unit stopped working, and they came out promptly to replace it. Service was very thorough, and everyone from the company is always kind, professional and very helpful. We were so impressed that we then had them replace the system in another unit and still continue to work with them for regular maintenance. Highly recommend!
