We purchased a MaxMark home approximately 18 months ago. The home we purchased was almost completely built as an intended model home. At our initial walkthrough prior to closing, we were told the house had a 12-month warranty and that we would have another walkthrough 30 days after closing and another a year later to address any problems or issues that came up. Within the first 30 days we made a list of items that needed to be fixed. Rather than come out to look into the issues that we had, Max told us that it didn’t make any sense to fix the items when there would most likely be more over the course of the upcoming year. He didn’t feel the need to send his crew out twice to fix our issues. Over the course of the following 11 months, we documented pages of issues that needed to be fixed. We started attempting to communicate with Max shortly before our 12 month anniversary to go over the issues we had documented. Several weeks after the anniversary came and went, and after numerous ignored emails from us, Max finally arranged to send one of his men out to look at the problems. The contractor told us he felt like we had legitimate issues. After that visit, we again reached out to Max to try to get the issues fixed. After yet more unanswered emails requesting his assistance, he emailed us the 138 page document of “Residential Construction Performance Guidelines for Professional Builders & Remodelers” and basically told us to figure out what issues we have that didn’t fall within the specs in the document. As WE are NOT the “Professional Builders and Remodelers”, we don’t feel that it is our responsibility to go through this document and do his job for him. We have realized that he is not going to fix anything, but rather use any excuse he could find to get out of upholding his warranty. We have continued to send emails regularly that have been completely ignored and we have yet more issues that keep popping up. Voicemails also go unacknowledged. Just a few of our issues include: *We suspect there is no actual plaster on our walls. You can see every seam and have literally hundreds of nails popping out throughout the entire house. Numerous cracks are also evident and one bedroom wall is curved to the point that you can’t hang a flat frame without it sticking out. *The siding was patched together with different colors in the same style so they didn’t match. One of his crews came by when we were moving in to paint the parts that didn’t match. They only put one coat of paint over the mismatched color, so the exterior paint is patchy and uneven in several places. *The soffit in the ceiling on the back porch was installed incorrectly and has gaps and sags throughout making the ceiling a great place for bugs to nest, not to mention being an eyesore. *The stone trim around the step up onto the front porch has fallen out of its concrete, creating a tripping hazard.

MaxMark homes did not build my home, but he served as a consultant for our home renovation. We have a home that was built in the 1980's. Our first floor was very closed off. He guided us through knocking down a load-bearing wall and installing a beam to be sure we were compliant with coding. He is so detail-oriented and thorough. I would highly recommend him to anyone who is considering building or remodeling. He has an incredible vision and uses high-quality products while keeping to your particular budget.

This company is about efficiency. I had a delivery at two locations for them, they received both at the same location. This saved me time and money.
