Went for my Isleños roots - but learned about my Filipino DNA too! I plan to return annually for the heritage festival. 💙

The history of the Los Isleños people (Spanish descent from the Canary Islands?) is amazing. Combined with the Acadians (French Catholics via Nova Scotia?), explains the "Cajun" culture.... at least partially.... its complicated!😊

The Festival was just Awesome, Crowds were GOOD. FEST PROVIDED PARKING AND A TRAM RIDE TO THE GROUNDS, OR PARK ON PERS ONAL PRIVATE PROPERTY FOR JUST $5--GREAT DEAL, WE WALKED ACROSS STREET TO ENTRANCE--ADMISSION $3,ANOTHER GREAT DEAL. THE PEOPLE WERE NICE & FRIENDLY ,EAGER TO SHARE THEIR KNOWLEDGE OF THE ISLENOS CULTURE--LOTS OF PHOTO DISPLAYS AND INFO. THE FOOD WAS GREAT & TASTY MADE BY THE VERY VENDORS SELLING IT TO FAIR GOERS. GREAT MUSEUM AND PEOPLE SGARING THEIR KNOWLEDGE OF THE ESTAB. OF TGE EARLY SPAINISH COLONY..SEE PICS
