Crooks! Back in August, I had this company come out to repair the A/C on my rental house. With over 100 degree temperatures, I was desperate to get my tenants taken care of. I was quoted a cost of $1,800 dollars which I though was extremely high to repair a hole in the refrigerant line and then refill the system. When I went to pay the bill, I asked for an itemized list for the parts and labor for my records and tax purposes. They said they would only do so if I paid them an additional 10%. They told me that keeps the cost down for them. Upon further investigation, I found that is illegal and I have notified the proper authorities. I hope they fine them big time and force them to change their practices.

Scott, I’m glad to hear that it sounds like our diagnostic and the repair we quoted you, you then approved, and took 2 technicians half a day outside in 100-degree weather, was successful in execution, and got your tenants taken care of. Your complaint is somewhat confusing to me, however because our company spends a great deal of time and effort going over repair summaries with customers that have questions. We always provide our customers with a receipt of purchase which should suffice all of your record keeping and tax purposes; however, we do not provide our customers with an itemized list of time and material or other costs, nor do we ever advertise that we would. Imagine asking the restaurant for an itemized list of time and material for the steak you just purchased and ate. If that request is so important to the decision, it should be made before the sale and consumption of the good, not after the fact. Contractors have no obligation to provide detailed receipts for fixed-fee projects. The $1800 that you complain about would still be the same amount if it were made ($1799 L + $1 M) or ($900 L + $900 M). Lastly, I believe you misheard our office, because we don’t charge an additional fee to provide labor + material breakdowns; we simply don’t provide labor + material breakdowns at all, which has been our policy for 20 years now. We have found in practice that doing lump sum sales vs time + material sales saves our company an average of 10% in overhead costs, which is a savings we pass on to our customers with lower prices. Great experience from initial call to completion of work! We hired Kyhn to move our AC unit to a less noisy place in the yard, and to direct more of the AC air flow to a warm front room. Garry, the owner, came out to our house, provided a free quote, was friendly and professional. Ryan called us with the quote info, explained the process in detail, and set everything up for the work to be done. The crew was considerate, professional, and performed all work as promised. We highly recommend Kyhn!

My mom in Merced was having an issue with her thermostat not working, being three hours away I reached out to Kyhn to see if they could help. They sent someone out within 24 hours, verified the thermostat was bad before replacing it. Installed the thermostat and checked to ensure everything was working and connected it to her nest account. She said the technician was friendly and efficient and provided an amazing service. Thank you Khyn for taking care of my mom!
