Very knowledgeable and keep you informed each step of the way. I continue to use them because they are reasonable, quick to respond, patiently explain my options and help me get my HVAC system back working. Will continue to call them with any needs, and would not hesitate to recommend them to anyone!

I contacted James & Sons and was pleasantly surprised when my heating unit which was only blowing cold air was able to be serviced the next day. Upon arrival I was told that the only reason my unit wasn't working was because my thermostat wasn't working (which I was already aware of). It was replaced with the "basic" version, for which I was not given a price, but was only assured it was the "cheapest model". The repairman performed an additional check on the unit outside & then left after stating it seemed fine. A day later I received a bill stating that the basic model was $125, bringing my overall total to nearly $300. To replace a thermostat, that I could've easily done myself. I was able to find the same unit online for half the price. After attempting to email James & Son's the same day to obtain instructions on how to return the overpriced unit in order to only pay the labor fee, I was blatantly ignored. In fact, they simply resent me the bill a week later. Two days later and my heating unit began to make banging sounds when it turned on. Whistling sounds now come from my vents whenever the unit is running. Obviously it wasn't "only the thermostat". If it had been I'm certain that a "double charge" version would have prevented any future issues. I would not recommend James & Son's & will having a legitimate company perform my future services from here on.

Good morning I just ran across your review & wanted to personally reach out to you. Our service techs are required to give the pricing to homeowner once the diagnostic is performed, so if that wasn’t done, I definitely apologize for that. As far as the email that was sent out I am not sure how we missed it. We have an automatic billing system that sends invoice follow ups every week, so that is the reason the invoice was sent back to you. We are available by phone & would have been happy to discuss the pricing with you & see what we could do to help with it. Once the thermostat was changed according to our technician everything was running as it should. Sometimes other problems can occur or reoccurrence & are difficult to diagnose if aren’t acting up at the actual time of technician arrival, if you would have called us when those issues happen we do offer a new diagnostic at no additional charge. The fact the system ran for several days is a good indication the thermostat was part of the problem. We do advise our customers that they can purchase a thermostat for lower cost online & some do decide to pursue that option & have us return to install once it arrives. I apologize you were not satisfied with our company. If we could ever help you in the future please reach out to our service manager.

James & Son did an awesome amazing install of mini-split units in a old cottage at Kure Beach . Very professional company great communication all the way.Technicians are top notch and represent James & Son great. The service vehicles are very clean and neat which tells a great story of the company’s image. Recommend them for any HVAC issues whether it be service or new installs . Great Job Guys.
