Screwed up Company. Accepted a job offer and they were to provide assistance on relocation. Their HR department is out of India and the they hire contractors for relocation assistance. In fact, I was dealing with contractors of contractors. They had over two weeks to find me a place to stay, but they not start looking 4 business days before I needed to be there. In addition, finding a furnished place to stay was difficult where most places were 30 to 40 minutes from the plant. Some other suggestions that were offered by the contractor were camp grounds, rooms to share in people's houses, and one guy had a shipping container to rent out. I was not impressed by these suggestions. I wanted to push my start date out another 5 days to give me time to go check out some places to stay and move in. I even voiced my concerns several times over the last two weeks that things were not happening fast enough to get me settle. They would not hear of it, so they cancel the offer. Most companies that I worked for would set-up a corporate apartment and take care of everything so I don't have to worry, not ABB. In addition since their HR group is out of India, emails and notifications kept getting filtered/blocked by internet service provider because they were generated in a foreign country. I never got the final clearance to start because I cleared my background check. They said that I did get it. Probably a good thing that I don't work there.

Shipping is pathetic, told the load was ready sat for 2 days!! Constantly getting lied too. 1 person says the load is ready, the next guy says it’s not.

Great benefits. Good wages. Yes, it does take time and effort to get hired here. Love the people I work with. You will be asked to work 8 to 10 hour days and when busy Saturdays overtime pay. Like any production/manufacturing job it does have its quirks and quirky people. Management could be better of course as any job. Better leave this includes sick days. More new hire benefits such as better vacation earnings. Wages are good but they could be more competitive with companies in Wytheville which sure it pays better than most but not as good as others. Position changes and vacation allocation based on seniority is something old fashioned at this point and should change. Quality work over seniority works out better. Just some recommendations. If anyone is interested in what is like working at ABB feel free to contact me. Just note I am not an HR. I am just a general employee. *I do want to address KW'S review. (Note: This is my personal opinion on your review and not representative of ABB or their HR dept.). There is clearly an HR staff on-site that work vigorously to help people get employed. ABB is the best job in Bland Co. It is a rural county. Yes, some HR work is done through a lady who is INDIAN. You do not have to be so disrespectful. But you are contacted by both of the HR's on-site during the process via email etc. The only time you have to go through the Indian HR is when they need to verify background information and your education qualifications. I have no information on contractors relating to relocation. 30 Mins - 60 mins is the average commute of most employees at ABB. It takes about that long just to drive across the county (it is the largest most rural county in the state). This is not uncommon or a lot to expect from someone. I am assuming that they tried to find you somewhere temporary in Wytheville. You should have been an adult and understood the limitations of: 1. Relocating you. 2. The general commute. 3. With your complaining on this review and others you have made. I am glad personally you don't work with me because this is a busy job usually and requires people competent enough to make decisions.
