  Optics in our evolving world are needed, investing into Community policing is profitable as opposed to profiling. As members of this community; I’m sure we want law enforcement to provide “service” before “protection” and see us as extensions of the law, societal norms and rules we have all agreed upon together. However I am quite amazed at the treatment and accusations that are depicted if you appear in a car that is less than regardless of facts. Save miles on a new car and gas considering our new norms and you become a criminal. It is not this atrocious profiling incident that has made the largest of impact: it is for my child who until this interaction loved law enforcement and considered them her friends. Tonight she said now I know why everyone is scared of them. My father was a cop and supervisor of training new recruits: the issues are still apparent. The point is while we get what we pay for innocence is the last thing we need to lose in this fight. Awareness and cost for education and training are a reality when innocence and our norms are threatened.
