  Be careful if your traveling on I-70 through Grove County. Very unprofessional sheriff's department. They will give you a ticket if another driver calls in and makes a claim towards you because they're upset about something even though there are no witnesses, no accident and the actual sheriffs department hasn't even witnessed anything.. He said , she said. Never known of a law inforcement agency that gives someone a ticket based on what another driver says.

  Attn: Sheriff Weber or To Whom it May Concern, I have received no reply to the complaint I filed three weeks ago, and am therefore repeating my letter to your office here. Good morning. I hope this communique finds you well. I wanted to reach out to file a complaint regarding an interaction with a Gove County police officer on June 30, 2017, at 1:53 p.m. I was pulled over as I traveled cross-country on I-70, for speeding. My complaint is not about this; I have paid the citation online in full. During the interaction, though, the officer (who failed to write his name or any identifying number on the citation: a white male with sandy hair, though I realize that's relatively unhelpful) made pointed and intimidating statements about the feminist bumper stickers on my vehicle. One says "feminist killjoy," which references the school of thought which suggests that one of the best ways to combat systemic oppression of and discrimination against women is by refusing to laugh at sexist "jokes." Your officer proceeded to ask me if that meant that I "kill feminists," and then laughed. This tack continued for some time. I am not desirous of any restitution of my citation payment. I am rather more invested in your officer understanding that, while he may not have meant any ill, his impact in that situation - while in a position of power, and armed, in the middle of an empty highway, speaking to a woman alone in her car - was very different. The relationships between police and citizenry are often strained in our nation, and interactions like these breed mistrust, discomfort, and unease, if not outright fear. I also feel strongly that your officer asked questions and made statements that are objectively inappropriate given the situation, as mentioned above, and am happy to file a formal complaint if you will kindly inform me of the system Gove County uses for such incidents.   Thank you so much to sheriff Corey Dipman for helping my family with there flat tire and then driving them to get air in there spare tire.
