Is a great learning experience about all the ships that went down in the waters around the door peninsula. The sights to see from the new tower that they built are breath taking. Definitely a place to stop and see and learn all about the ships, crew, the lighthouses and what made door county the great place it is today!

I went with my daughter in law and 2 grandkids and it was really cool. All of the history of Door County was interesting and the interactive displays were informative. We really enjoyed looking at the models of the boats as well. We will be back!

This is a very good museum that told the extensive history of shipbuilding in Sturgeon Bay. The displays are excellent t particularly he history of this town’s role in WW II production of wartime ships. Give yourself several hour to watch the various videos at the different displays. Take a tour of the tugboat and go up the tower for a panoramic view of the harbor. A lot of good information on the building of the canal and the role of the local Coast Guard.  Many different model

I haven't done the museum tour yet, but just the views on and around the building are gorgeous!

What a great place. We toured the Tugboat which was really interesting.The volunteer who gave the tour was very knowledgeable and friendly. Wonderful displays on the maritime history of the area. Never knew this was where the US Coast Guard got their start. Pay a little more and go to the Tower. Pretty views of the downtown waterfront.

Access to the Maritime Lighthouse Tower is included with Museum admission.

At the time of posting this review (April 2022), not all floors of the tower have been completed yet. We were able to see the top floor of the tower and two additional tower floors, along with the two floors of the main museum area. Every time we stop by (a few times per year) we are happy to see the museum grow and change. The tower exhibits are both informative and interactive; I am impressed with the use of technology and artifacts to make a story fully come to life. Even as adults we had a great time trying out every interactive part of the exhibit. The tower exhibits are a bit small, but they utilize their space very well. We cannot wait to return later in the year to see what else will be new to explore!

The DC Maritime museum offers families a fun adventure through the different exhibits and floors. The observation desk provides a remarkable opportunity to see Sturgeon Bay and the ships! My family also enjoys seeing the tug. Their float for the Christmas parade was fitting, too!

So much to see!  Fascinating history of shipbuilding, the lighthouses, the lake... Leave a couple of hours to see it all well.  Cute gift shop.  We were there for the Christmas trees.  Making time to go again next for the same event

Mark your calendar: The Merry Time Festival of Trees begins November 12, 2022, with Santa visiting the Museum, kids activity day, and the lighting of the Tugboat.

Definitely will come back again since there was so much to see in the limited time we had.  Plus a lot more to see in the future with  new exhibits in process of being installed.

Very informative exhibits, especially the military ships due to Sturgeon Bays connection to shipbuilding and Military Shipbuilding.

Also be aware the observation deck is included with general admission.

A bit underwhelming,  especially for younger children. Lots of boat models. We did enjoy the barge simulator and the lifesize boat dock. You can take an elevator to the top of the lighthouse, they show a short film before hand.. When it is raining, the top deck of the lighthouse is closed, the tugboat tours are closed, and due to demand, you will wait quite a bit to go up in the lighthouse.The staff were extremely helpful and friendly, and the gift shop was nice.
