Ok using American home shield is a rip off first off. I only used these guys because I’ve had two houses, they came to both, first one they had to come out and replace the whole air conditioning unit, American home shield covered this one so I really didn’t complain at the time, but when they installed the unit, they didn’t install a rain guard over the ducting, so I had to pay a different company $400 to come do something that they should have came and did the first time, that was the first time, now we have a new house, and the upstairs ducting isn’t connected to the rest of the house, first off they no longer work with home shield, they won’t call home shield, or talk to them at all, one of those, pay, have work done and get reimbursed. Good luck with this by the way. But anyways I’ll never use or buy home warranty again because nobody messes with them anymore. Now back to the business in question, they quoted $100 to come and quote the work... well first they send a dude that says it’s too hot we need to come first thing in the morning. I said ok I guess, then morning comes, I opened everything up and they come in look around and say they can’t get to the ducting. So they recommended a split level ac. That’s fine but they won’t call or talk to the American home shield at all, they were here for around an hour and didn’t really do much of anything but look in the attic. American home shield said they have talk to them to get the referral. And charged me $159 for hour and a half guess charged me for the guy coming out the day before. Shouldn’t have sent him in the heat of the day I guess.

So, I called 3 different companies to come to my home and estimate the job for a brand new heating and air conditioning unit.We decided on Colwell Heat and Air because we heard they were pretty good. After talking to them it took 3 weeks for them to get back to us for an install date. The day they arrived for the install they put the new ac unit outside in no time. They then started on the furnace. It didn't take long for them to remove the old unit but that is when the trouble started. The new unit was 3 inches to big for the closet it went in. They removed the whole door frame so they could get it in and it was still to narrow. They then cut out part of the wall so that it would fit. They put the door frame back in by hammering it into place and now there are hammer marks all over the frame. It was a shoddy job. The duct work was to be cleaned and instead of using vacuum they blew it out and then there was a fine layer of dust all over everything in the house. They went to our outside faucet to clean the vents and broke the faucet. When all was said and done there were items missing from the house so we were extremely displeased with everything they did. We are also contacting a lawyer about the damage.

American Home Shield contracts this outfit in our area. They came and looked at our heat and air unit for 5 minutes and told my mother the unit needed to be replaced. When I got home and looked around at what had been done I found the panel that covers the wiring laying on the ground and it looked like some one just ripped wires out. There was even a couple wires cut. Don't trust these shady crooks.
