I called John last Saturday evening at 9.55 pm after realizing my condenser fan was not spinning and my house was starting to heat up. After explaining to him the little bit of trouble shooting I had done, he decided it was more than likely the motor and schedule me for 11am the next day ( Sunday). He showed up a little early, checked to make sure it was indeed the motor and got right to work. He took the time to explain some things to me as he was working, which is comforting. He definitely takes pride in the work he does. After making sure everything worked, we settled up and his prices, even for weekends is very reasonable! ( I spoke with a few friends that got the exact same things fix on a weekday and were charged far more than I was.) It took quite awhile for my house to cool down ( it was hot and humid and my ac had obviously been malfunctioning for at least 24 hours) but my husband was concerned and called John. John went over a few things, answered all his questions and of course if needed he was available to come out again. Eventually the ac expelled the heat that had built up. To follow up, I got a phone call Monday mid morning from John just making sure that the house had cooled and all was good! Let me just say WOW, John is A+++++ in my books, it was nice to not just feel like another "job" he really has that old school sense of customer service and pride in his business, and it was refreshing! If we ever need HVAC work again, I will not hesitate to call John, I am sold on his professionalism, knowledge, efficiency and customer service. Thank you again John, you are greatly appreciated!

Came out never addressed issue which was water in basement due to unit not working charged 220.00. Told unit was dirty and needed refrigerant. Even asked me if I had power tools??? I told him I would have to wait a few days to pay for refrigerant. Came out less than a week later to put in refrigerant. Charged me 530.00 including a $75 fee for assessing the issue. 2 hrs later system froze I called him he wanted 75.00 to come look again. I hung up! He left message indicating he would reduce t 34 to come look and that he can’t work for free. I had another company come out and they advised he had put in wrong gas and system is now needing full replacement. The label on machine was not faded and there is no reason for him to have put in the wrong gas!!! I am out 750.00 and now I need a new air conditioner/new heater and new watertank

Karen, I am sorry for the misunderstandings. Your condensing unit holds 5 lb R22 refrigerant from factory. The unit was low by 2.7 lb. As is standard industry practice, I recovered the remaining R22 and replaced the entire charge with 5+ lb R422D and leak repair. This was done because the indoor evaporator will freeze and thaw, flooding your furnace area, if the unit is low on refrigerant. Also, your outdoor condenser coil was completely packed solid with grass clippings and shredded mulch dust, making heat rejection impossible. It simply had to be disassembled and chemically cleaned (which is no simple task!) before any meaningful temperature and pressure readings could be obtained. I performed these services on two separate occasions to work within your budget. Possible causes of flooding at the evaporator/air handler include: 1) Low refrigerant (addressed). 2) Condensate drain clogged. 3) Evaporator coil clogged with dust/pet hair. 4) Clogged air filter (which you indicated was just changed). 5) Supply registers closed. 6) Return grilles blocked by furniture/clothing. 6) Blower fan failing to spin due to: a) capacitor b) loose blower wheel c) bad control board d) the motor itself. All of these things, or a combination of them can cause freezing and flooding at the air handler. My offer to further troubleshoot your system free of charge, and to correct further problems at my rate of $60.00/hour, plus parts still stands. As for the technician who told you that R422D is not an approved refrigerant for your system, he is either unaware, confused, or misinformed of industry standard. Please be aware and make informed decisions before spending nearly $10,000.00 on a complete new system. Unfortunately, this is one way that some companies do business, by skipping repairs, criticizing competitors, and selling new systems. My sincere apologies Karen. I'm sorry that your AC problem was not resolved immediately. Please call if you wish to continue investigating and correcting the issues with your HVAC system.
