      Great service and professional technicians. They only do what they say they’ll do and and nothing extra without your consent, (the way it should be). Their prices are reasonable as well. You owe it to yourself to call these great people if you need your home system serviced. 😉

      I contacted this company because of their 40 years of experience. When I spoke to the company, the person who answered the phone said they had a non-refundable "service call fee" that is not applied to the repair or parts but they "don't mark up their cost for parts" ... cutting to the chase, they first tried to sell me an expensive "lifetime" capacitor that only had a 5-year warranty which I declined, but then charged over $160 to install a regular 35-5 MFD ($8 to $16 in the store) capacitor. I called Blackwell and they said they charge "the industry flat rate" for parts and installation, so the "no mark-up on parts" claim is just smoke and mirrors. I will be peeling Blackwell labels off of my HVAC units--inside and outside--and consider this an expensive lesson on how NOT to pick repair companies. UPDATE: I stand by my review and recommendation to potential future customers after reading Blackwell's response...shop around.

      We absolutely strive to provide above and beyond service to each of our customers. We apologize that you feel we missed that mark during your service call at your rental property. Management has reviewed all phone calls and service tickets on your account for any possible discrepancies that may have attributed to your dissatisfaction, however we were unable to find any. Upon receiving the phone call from your tenant, as per company policy we reached out to the Landlord (Lloyd French) to discuss if they would like us to provide a service call to their rental home as requested. At that time the homeowner was advised of how we address landlord/tenant service calls from start to finish. First-we would send a licensed HVAC Technician to perform a full system diagnostic for $79.00 to determine the cause of the system not operating at which time the landlord was advised that the diagnostic fee was independent of any additional repair costs TBD. Once a diagnosis was reached and repair costs were determined, our technician then called the landlord and explained the diagnosis, what repairs were recommended to get the system up and running as well as the cost to complete those repairs right there while we were onsite. The Landlord authorized the repairs at the repair cost quoted by our technician and the repairs were performed and system began operating as designed. We have operated on flat rate pricing for at least 25 years, so if the repair takes 4 hours or 40 minutes there is not any additional surprise costs to our customers. We understand that you were able to locate a similar part online at a much lower price point, and how that can be alarming. However once you consider the licensed technician who executes the repair in accordance to the manufactures standards, our Blackwell Heating & Air 30 day guarantee for all repairs, the applicable parts warranty which is backed by the local distributor that we purchase the parts from, as well as the convenience of not having to delay a repair that was able to get the 15+ year old system back up and running in the same day. We hope that you can see the added value of having a licensed professional HVAC technician complete the repair. Management did extend the offer of our 10% discount for our ESA customers although your location is currently not on a regular maintenance program with us as a good faith gesture to help negate your frustration, and we were advised that the discount was not sufficient. We apologize that we were not able to come to a resolution.
