I have had my fair share of dealings with Baz over the years. From the years of experience that Baz possesses, I have at times personally witnessed him walk into a job, open a furnace, and immediately point out the problem. What would have taken me days to figure out, he discovered immediately. I’ve also witnessed the sacrifices that the owner makes for his business by going out at night and weekends while simply claiming that a customer needs him. The owner and workers take great pride in their workmanship. Try finding that at one of the large HVAC companies or companies that largely invest in advertisements rather than solving HVAC problems. This is a small family-owned operation that values customers and craftsmanship. The reviewer Ashley should reconsider her review. It sounds like Baz quickly got your heat working for the weekend, came back again, and diagnosed the issue. While some parts online appear the same as those used by Baz, he has personally shown me at times the subtle differences in parts and at times talked about how some wholesalers sell them for vastly different pricing. If you found a cheaper and equally effective part, then you should have mentioned that. But, it sounds like you were without heat. Were you willing to go longer with no heat? Also, I’ve never heard of anyone working for free to drive to a customer’s house and diagnose the issue. (Yet, I could understand docking a star or two if you did not understand the labor costs upfront.) My advice to those shopping around, ask during your initial call what the estimated labor cost will be. Whoever comes to your house, mention you want to know an estimate before any parts are replaced. Realize that it can take longer to complete some jobs when something does not go as planned or something else is found wrong. This is why they give estimate ranges based on their experience of fixing certain issues. Lastly, most people without heat on the coldest winter day just want it working ASAP, so the company might not mention costs upfront. I highly value knowledgeable, local companies that strive to keep customers happy, and from my experience this includes Baz Heating and Air.

On Friday, I called to get a second opinion on my furnace, after having another company out three different times to look at my furnace. The other company kept quoting me for different parts and didn't seem to know what was actually wrong with the furnace. The next part they wanted me to replace was around $550-$600 and wasn't a guaranteed fix. After already spending hundreds of dollars, we couldn't afford to keep guessing. Baz was quick to come out and take a look for no charge. I have a newborn at home and was laid off right before having my son, so money has been extremely tight. They didn't have the necessary equipment to determine what was wrong with the furnace at the time, but told me that he would be back on Monday to do more tests and he got it working temporarily. On Monday, a different guy came out and figured out the issue by testing the furnace with the new part. It was working but would cost me $550 for him to leave the part in. Unfortunately, we have barely had money to feed our family, let alone shell out $550 on the spot for this part. The guy stepped outside to see if the price could be dropped any after I told him there was no way, we could afford that part and that I would need to discuss it with my husband to try and find a way to come up with the money. They said $500 was the lowest they could go to leave the new part in instead of putting the old part back in. I felt extremely pressured (as the new part was already installed in the unit) and we didn't have the money for the part. I had no choice but to have him put the old part back in the unit. After he put the old part back in, he tells me, "it will just be $125 today then". This fee should have been mentioned at anytime prior, so I could have planned for this. On Friday, I had been told that they were going to look at it for free. I would never have agreed to them coming out, if I would have been quoted this $125 fee. All I needed was a day to talk to my husband and figure out how we could come up with the money, so they could come back out and install the part. It is very unlikely that I will use this company for the replacement of this part now and I had to use the only money we had until the end of the month to pay for a fee that was NEVER disclosed. The company being easy to work with and being quick to come help initially, was overshadowed in the end. After doing further research the part is $150 online new, so $400 for labor on a part that takes 10 minutes to install.

Brian and Rob installed a new furnace and duct work at my home. They were prompt, courteous and reliable. They left the basement cleaner than when they got there. I was able to receive an estimate and have it installed the next day. They have the best prices around and do amazing work. I would highly recommend them to anyone!
