Ok, I have dealt with several AC companies including ones with my business along with a large warehouse building with several units. I’ve had Active Heating and Air for a good 15 years. I have been calling them out for the last couple of years with different issues on my AC unit they did exactly what I wanted them to do in fixing it. I finally decided it was better off getting a new AC unit and Anthony came out on Saturday to replace it for the cold temperatures of winter. I can only comment on my experiences with this AC company but I can tell you I’m extremely pleased with their service and prompt responses. Thanks from a disabled veteran.

This review is 6-1/2 years after the installation of my mother-in-law's heating and air conditioning system. Unfortunately, it took this long to realize that the installation was done incorrectly. The system was installed in November 2011. In May of 2018, I noticed that the system was not cooling properly. I looked at the outside unit and saw that it was iced up. This is usually an indication that it is low on refrigerant. It also means that the evaporator (inside the air plenum in the attic) is also iced up. So I shut off the system since there was no need to run it with the system low on refrigerant. About 1/2 an hour later, as I was sitting at the kitchen table, I kept hearing an occasional dripping sound. It took a few minutes to realize that it was coming from the kitchen ceiling in two different locations. That's when it hit me: The furnace/air conditioner is in the attic directly above the kitchen. I ran up to the attic, expecting to find that the "catch" pan was overflowing from the melting ice. That's when I realized that the system was installed shoddily. (The evaporator has it's own drain pan internally that catches most of the normal condensation and drains it out a line to the outside. The "catch" pan will catch any overflow in case of an icing condition when the normal pan is overwhelmed.) You see, the plenum where the evaporator is installed overhung the edge of the catch pan. So all the melting ice just ran out the end of the plenum, completely missing the catch pan. So improper installation led to ceiling damage and water stains. (The kitchen walls and ceiling had just been repainted the previous year.) We called another A/C contractor to evaluate the system, and they discovered that there were other incorrect items with the install, including the failure to replace the copper service lines to the units. The lines from the old unit had been reused, which were undersized for the tonnage size of the new unit. (They turned out to be the source of the Freon leak as well.) The whole point of me explaining this is to warn you about Active Heating & Air of McDonough, GA. They bought the business from the previous owner in Fayetteville, GA, who did the install. The current business handles all the previous customers. Anthony came out 1 month prior to this incident for the same problem. He installed 5-1/2 pounds of refrigerant, UV dye, and leak stopper and told us this was the best bet since the system was getting a little old. 5-1/2 pounds low means that there is a pretty large leak, and he was going to come back in 1 month with a black light to find. He charged my mother-in-law $700+ for the service. Well, obviously the leak stopper didn't work. The technician from the current contractor we called found the leak within 5 minutes by noticing the oil stains on the service line. (No UV light required). He confirmed the obvious leak with an electronic sniffer. (Something Anthony told me their technicians don't have.) My mother-in-law had to spend $2200 for another contractor to redo the installation to properly position the catch pan, install the properly-sized service line, and re-service the system. Multiple calls to the current Active Heating & Air in McDonough, GA have failed to result in a call back to me. I originally asked to speak to the owner, no luck there. More recent attempts failed to result in even an answering service or voicemail box. Seems that they are either out of business or on the way out. Even if you get can get through, I can not recommend them. STAY AWAY!

We had a bad experience with this company. Their customer service is not what it used to be. I have to call another company to deal with the ac unit. Not a happy customer.
